Phasor Data Concentrator (iPDC) and PMU Simulator
The project was initiated by Kedar and Nitesh at Indian Institute for Technology Bombay, Electrical Department with a aim to build a Free PDC software.
iPDC is a free and open source Phasor Data Concentrator that collects data from Phasor Measurement Units and other iPDC's that are IEEEC37.118 compliant.
It also archives the received data in the MysQL database.
| Project objectives:- Design and implementation of Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC) and PMU Simulator.
- iPDC & PMU Simulator are compliant to IEEE C37.118 Synchrophasors standard for Power Systems.
- iPDC performs time alignment, aggregation of the data received from PMU's and other iPDC's. It simultaneously sends the received data to MySQL database server running on local/remote machine.
- iPDC GUI enables the user with multiple operations like add/remove PMU/iPDC devices, send command frame to OFF/ON data transmission or get configuration frame.
- iPDC can send combined data/configuration frames to other iPDC's, enabling iPDC-iPDC communication.
- Customized data/configuration/header frames can be generated with PMU Simulator. These frames can then be sent on request from iPDC.
- Release iPDC under GPL.
Features:- iPDC and PMU Simulator have been implemented in C programming language to be running on GNU/Linux operating system. Both are compliant to IEEE C37.118 Synchrophasors standard for Power Systems.
- iPDC and PMU Simulator support both TCP and UDP communication protocols.
- iPDC is a generalized software performing the role of PMU as well as PDC in the WAMS topology.
- iPDC facilitates storage of data in MySQL database for post analysis.
- iPDC and PMU Simulator are free and open source softwares released under GPL V3.0.
- The whole project consists of 3 different programs.
- iPDC which is the Phasor Data Concentrator.
- dbServer which is used to store the data in MySQL database
- PMUSimulator which simulates the Phasor Measurement Unit compliant with IEEEC37.118 synchrophasor standard.
- work on Unix and Unix-like operating systems.
- use GTK+, a graphical user interface library and also the POSIX thread library.
- iPDC 1.0
